Family Sponsorship
Reunite with Your Loved Ones
Family is at the heart of the US immigration system. Through family sponsorship, US citizens and lawful permanent residents (green card holders) can petition to bring certain relatives to live and work permanently in the United States. Whether you are sponsoring a spouse, child, parent, or sibling, our team at Pretzel Immigration Pvt. Ltd. can help you navigate the complex application process for a family-based green card. The process is divided into two main categories as mentioned below:
-
Immediate Relatives:
- Spouse of a US citizen
- Unmarried child (under 21) of a US citizen
- Parent of a US citizen (at least 21 years old)
- Orphan Adopted Abroad or Coming to the US for Adoption
-
Family Preference Categories:
- FB-1 (First Preference): Unmarried sons and daughters (21 or older) of U.S. citizens
-
FB-2 (Second Preference): Divided into 2 categories:
- FB-2A: Spouses and unmarried children (under 21) of green card holders or Lawful Permanent Residents (LPRs)
- FB-2B: Unmarried sons and daughters (21 or older) of green card holders
- FB-3 (Third Preference): Married sons and daughters of U.S. citizens (regardless of age)
- FB-4 (Fourth Preference): Siblings of U.S. citizens (if the citizen is 21 or older)
Application Process
- Filing Form I-130 (Petition for Alien Relative): This form establishes the qualifying family relationship between the sponsor and the foreign relative. Documents such as birth/marriage certificates, proof of citizenship, and financial support affidavits are required.
- Applying for the Green Card: Inside the US, file Form I-485 (Adjustment of Status) and outside the US, apply through consular processing at a US embassy or consulate abroad. Approved applicants become lawful permanent residents and receive a green card.
